Assoc. Prof. Alan Hogg is the Director of the Waikato Radiocarbon Dating laboratory. Current areas of research include: Investigation into atmospheric 14C concentrations as archived in Northland sub-fossil kauri during the Younger Dryas Stadial (~12,950 to 11,600 years ago) and Oxygen isotope Stage 3 (~24,000 to 60,000 years ago); development of the Southern Hemisphere radiocarbon calibration curve, SHCal13 by decadal, high precision analysis of New Zealand kauri, silver pine and cedar samples.
